Overview
In a small village, old woman Ayimkhan, backbone of her family, lives with her son, Samat; his wife, Gulzhan; and their 8-year-old daughter, Umit. Ayimkhan supports the family through her pension, labor, and devoted care. However, Gulzhan, who has grown tired of rural life, wants to move to the city; one day she finally leaves home. The burden of housework and caring for her granddaughter falls on Ayimkhan's shoulders alone. Daily life flows quietly, apparently unchanged, yet within it, the family is falling apart.
